Ernesto Barattin, “Nòno Ernesto” to many: a bereavement, a ruby wedding, 175 hours of volunteer work in 1997 and a gold medal in 2007. A life in the Alpini Group of Salce, pieced together from the pages of the Col Maòr.

Born in April 1964 from an idea of Mario Dell’Eva, a Section periodical from 1987, taken back by the Group in 2003-2004: the story of the Col Maòr, the newsletter of the Salce Alpini.

Arcangelo De Biasi came back from Russia, Antonio Coletti did not. A photograph shows them on horseback with Domenico Martin: in Albania in 1941 according to the Col Maòr, in Russia in 1942 according to the 60th Anniversary Book.

For its tenth anniversary the Group went up the Col Maòr hill: Mass, medals for the Knights of Vittorio Veneto handed over by the young members, rain and a field lunch. Mario Dell’Eva’s account of December 1973.

The Val di Siva railway viaduct at San Fermo was blown up in 1917, rebuilt by prisoners and women, and bombed in 1944. Armando Dal Pont tells its story in the Col Maòr.

A donkey, a cart and stockings for the children: in January 1969 the Group invented the Alpine Befana. For almost fifty years the Befana had the face of Giulia Carlin.

Born in Verona, a Bellunese by adoption, a lifetime in the 7th Alpini: the portrait of General Pietro Zaglio written by Mario Dell’Eva in 1964, reread alongside the other Col Maòr papers.
