Help the living to honour the dead – Nardo Caprioli
In 1929 Angelo Manaresi, president of the Italian National Alpini Association, attacked in «L’Alpino» the habit of treating the mountains as a drawing room. A text later collected in the book «Quel mazzolin di fiori…» that still speaks to the Dolomites of today.
Founded in Udine in 1919, L’Alpino became a shared voice for the Alpini. Historical photographs and M. Genua’s two portraits from 1933 accompany the story of its founding with Italo Balbo and its growth under Angelo Manaresi.
