On 30 August 2026 Cison di Valmarino hosts the 55th Gathering at the Bosco delle Penne Mozze, the woodland memorial to 2,403 fallen Alpini from Treviso.
Ten years after the earthquake of 24 August 2016 we remember the 299 victims and the extraordinary mobilisation of the Alpini. Belluno, Cadore and Feltre also played their part: volunteers on the ground and a fundraising appeal, conceived by Michele Sacchet, which united the three Sections and raised 81,035 euros.
On 5 and 6 September 2026 Cesiomaggiore hosts the 9th A.N.A. National Mountain Bike Championship. Two days of sport and Alpini spirit in the “Cycling Village”, with Sergio Sanvido, Silvio Rui and the nearby story of Tullio Campagnolo.
On 3 October 1935 Fascist Italy launched the war in Ethiopia. La Voce Amica also reported those events to the families of Salce. We reread those pages today to understand how propaganda, war and the great events of history reached a small village near Belluno.
In October 1927 the first issue of La Voce Amica appeared: the parish bulletin that for more than eighty years chronicled Salce, its families, emigration and the great events of the twentieth century. Today the entire archive, digitised by the Gruppo Alpini “Gen. Pietro Zaglio” of Salce, is freely available online.
One hundred and nine years on, the Bainsizza still bears the marks of one of the hardest battles of the Great War. In August 1917 the Belluno, Pieve di Cadore, Monte Antelao and Monte Pelmo battalions of the 7th Alpini fought there too.
